Cityscape

When we stayed at a monastery in the town Koya, we visited the nearby graveyard Okunoin (奥の院), where the site of the mausoleum of Kobo Daishi, the founder of Shingon Buddhism is located. There were a lot of beautifully decorated tombstones and statues surrounded by the lanterns which lit up the statues. A eerily beautiful thing to walk around in the darkness, with the total quietness of the graveyard filling the air.
